About 2,600 years ago, one night, Lady Maya had a dream, in which she dreamed that a six-tusked white elephant entered her womb from her right rib. After ten months, A prince was born. As soon as he was born, he walked seven steps in all directions, and lotus flowers sprouted wherever he stepped. When he stopped, he pointed one finger to the sky and the other to the earth and said: "I alone am the World-Honored One" After saying this, nine dragons appeared in the sky and spit out water from their mouths to bathe the prince. These were the various rituals when the prince was born. An auspicious sign. King Suddhodana named the prince Siddhartha. He is our great and respected Buddha.
The festival of Buddha's Birthday is a supreme ceremony for all the Buddhists. All Buddhists should unite together to celebrate this meaningful festival every year. Why? Because we have only one fundamental teacher, Shakyamuni Buddha. The Dharma we practice is also the same, coming from Shakyamuni Buddha. Buddhists worldwide seek to achieve the same goal: free themselves from hardship and affliction, escape from the Birth-and-Death Circle, and ultimately become Buddhas.
The Dharma preached by Shakyamuni Buddha is the most sublime and perfect. This kind of Dharma has been attracting many sentient beings who have faith, sincerity, good roots, and wisdom. Let us together, under the supreme lighting of the Shakyamuni Buddha, take refuge in the Triple Gem, listen, contemplate, and practice the Dharma, and propagate the Dharma to benefit all sentient beings.
